FIDIS Privacy Policy
Scope
This is a privacy policy for the FIDIS NoE (FIDIS) web portal. The FIDIS web portal falls under the responsibility of the FIDIS consortium. The portal is concerned with the dissemination and exchange of information about the FIDIS research project. It is not concerned with commercial transactions or with the exchange of data for marketing purposes.

Information Collection and Use
All information collected from the user by the FIDIS portal site will only be processed by the FIDIS consortium. The data will only be used for customizing the services. The FIDIS consortium will not sell, share, rent or pass the data in other ways to third parties. The personal data will only be stored as long as it is necessary for provision of the service.
Third Party Data Processing
Our web site is located on a server provided by Host Europe GmbH (Hanserstraße 109, 51149 Köln, Germany, Tel.: +49 (800) 4678387). The Host Europe GmbH has the technical possibility to inspect the data stored on the server. It is handling the logging procedure (see below). The Host Europe GmbH assures, not to provide the data to other parties (cf. http://www.hosteurope.de/index.php4).
Registration
In order to receive an account for the FIDIS web site, users have to complete a registration form. During registration a user is required to provide a username and a password of his/her own choice in addition to an email address. In case the FIDIS portal administrator needs to contact the user (e.g. in case the password is lost) the email address is used. We will not give the email address away to any third parties or expose it anywhere. It is optional for the user to provide his/her title, company, address, city, country, postal code, telephone number, language and homepage. This data will be used for the representation to the partners in the FIDIS consortium.
Contact form
The web site provides a web-contact form to contact the FIDIS consortium. The user is only required to provide the message. It is optional for the user to provide his/her name and email address. These data will only used for internal revise by the FIDIS consortium and providing an answer to the user if wanted. These messages will not be provided to third parties. It is also possible for the user to get in contact with the FIDIS consortium using the email address fidis-info(at)fidis.net.
Log Files
Every time a user requests or downloads a file from the web content provided by the FIDIS consortium, data about these events will be stored in a log file. This information will not be analysed on a level of personal data.
In particular the following data is being stored:
- name of the file requested,
- date and time of the request,
- amount of data transferred,
- information whether the request was successful,
- name of requesting page (referrer).
We do not collect IP addresses on the web server and do not track user’s movement.
Cookies
A cookie is a small text file written to a user’s hard drive. The cookies set by this web site do not contain any personal information about users. They only contain a Session-ID and an expiring date. This is necessary to detect that a user who is logged in. At the end of the connection it will be deleted. If a user sets up his browser to reject the cookie, he or she may still use the site although functionality might be impaired.
Advertising
The FIDIS web site does not collaborate with a third party that serves ads to this site.
Links / Third Party Sites
This Web Site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that the FIDIS consortium is not responsible for the contents and the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of these third party sites. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this Web site.
Correcting / Updating Personal Information
The user has the right at every time to request information about the stored personal data. He has the unrestricted right of erasure, updating and correction of the stored personal data. This can e.g. be done by sending an email to fidis-info(at)fidis.net.
Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our Homepage so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under which circumstances, if any, we disclose it.
