There is a pre-defined list of countries, which can be extended along the way. The current countries taken into account in the database are basically the EU member states and countries in North America:

Note that not all EU countries are covered in the first stage; the prototype contains mainly the EU countries that are represented within FIDIS, and the US. The other EU member states will be added in stages (see section ).
