2006: Sharpening skills in Smart Card, ID and Aml Technologies

September 19-22, 2006
Sophia Antipolis - French Riviera

“Smart University” (2nd edition) is an educational programme dedicated to advanced technologies of Smart Card, e-ID and AmI. Successfully launched in 2005 “Smart University” relies on a strong academic background provided by its 15 partner European Universities. This approach is completed by cases and live testimonials from R&D labs and industry researchers that focus on the newest developments of technologies. “Smart University” addresses young engineers - researchers as well as executives - willing to widen and deepen the scope of their knowledge on new technological and strategic issues of Smart Cards and e-ID. The programme consists of 7 tracks of 2 days (except 1) according to a workshop format which enables time for Q&A and for discussions, and a large interactivity between participants, teachers and lecturers. The schedule of these modules allows participants to attend successively 2 modules of their choice.

The 7 educational modules are as follow:

SMART CARD SECURITY: new challenges from cryptography
Module designed and coordinated by Jean-Jacques Quisquater, Professor, UCL University of Louvain-la-Neuve

IDENTITY MANAGEMENT: users freedom in view of mobility, challenges and opportunities
Module designed and coordinated by Dr Sabine Delaitre, Institute for Prospective Technological Studies of Seville - European Commission

SMART CARD SOFTWARE: new platforms & new challenges for embedded software
Module designed and coordinated by Professor Pierre Paradinas, CNAM,France

SC STANDARDS: Interactive Smart Card Curriculum (tbc)
Module delivered by the GlobalPlatform Committee Chairs (tbc)

“Smart University” is part of the Smart Event ‘06 and is co-located with 3 other international events:

  • “E-SMART 2006” (7th edition), the leading smart card industry conference (Sept. 20-22) ,
  • “WORLD E-ID 2006” (3rd edition), the conference devoted to the emerging deployment of trusted electronic identities and seamless access to e-services (Sept. 20-22)
  • “AMBIENT INTELLIGENT DEVELOPMENTS 2006” (1st edition), the conference dedicated to Ambient Intelligence (Sept. 20-22)

Like “e-Smart 2006”, “World e-ID 2006”, and “Ambient Intelligent Developments 2006”, “Smart University” will take place in Sophia Antipolis from September 19-22, 2006.

“Smart University” co-location with these 3 international scientific conferences facilitates networking and exchanges with the other participants as well as the attendance to the demos.
