TILT Institute for Law, Technology, and Society

TILT – Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology, and Society – is part of the Law Faculty of Tilburg University, the Netherlands. With approximately 25 researchers and many years of experience, TILT is one of the most prominent Dutch research institutes in the area of technology regulation ( www.uvt.nl/tilt). The research carried out within the Institute covers a wide range of topics related to developments in ICT, biotechnology, and nanotechnologies. Key topics relate to electronic government, electronic commerce, electronic health, ICT regulation, privacy, identity management (ID infrastructures, e-signatures, biometrics, etc.), computer crime and security, intellectual property rights and digital rights management, public administration, governance, ‘green’ and ‘red’ biotechnology, nanomaterials and nano-medicine, and human engineering. Characteristic of the type of research carried out by TILT is the interaction between lawyers, public administration and ethics experts, between law, regulation and governance, between public administration and informatization, and between legal, ethical, technical, and social perspectives.
